- Third-quarter automotive EBIT margin fell as revenue, deliveries and profit declined year on year.
- BMW expects restructuring and portfolio measures to weigh on fourth-quarter earnings.
- Neue Klasse demand is supporting the strategic realignment, while China remains a major pressure point.
BMW Group reported weaker third-quarter operating figures on Wednesday, November 4, while expanding its realignment plan. The company now expects its reported 2026 Automotive EBIT margin between -0.5% and +0.5%, compared with a previous range of 1% to 3%. The real-time quote of BMW stock was 61.03 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:41 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. That was 6.90% above the 57.09-euro quote in the latest BMW report on the same morning at 08:22.
BMW said the guidance change follows a decision to expand and intensify portfolio and structural measures. The company expects those measures to create a non-operating earnings impact in the fourth quarter. Before the measures, BMW still expects the Automotive EBIT margin to exceed 2.0% for the full year, while Automotive free cash flow is expected to remain above 2.5 billion euros.
Third-quarter pressure remains visible
According to BMW Group, third-quarter group revenue fell 5.8% to 30.452 billion euros and profit before tax declined 10.6% to 2.083 billion euros. Net profit decreased 14.7% to 1.448 billion euros.
The Automotive segment generated 26.669 billion euros in revenue. Its EBIT fell 39.7% to 901 million euros, reducing the segment margin to 3.4% from 5.2% a year earlier. Group deliveries declined 6.3% to 551,075 vehicles, with lower sales in China only partly offset by growth in Europe and the United States.
Neue Klasse offers a strategic counterweight
BMW said demand for Neue Klasse models is supporting additional production shifts and an earlier phase-out of selected older vehicle and technology generations. The company plans to launch the iX3 long-wheelbase model in China in November and introduce further Neue Klasse models during 2027.
Tariffs and depreciation linked to the purchase-price allocation of BMW Brilliance Automotive assets also weighed on the Automotive segment. BMW said these effects reduced the margin by about 1.25 percentage points and 1.2 percentage points respectively in the third quarter.
