BMW stock gains 2.7% during margin outlook reset

- BMW cut its 2026 automotive EBIT margin forecast to a range between minus 0.5% and plus 0.5%.
- The company linked the reset to accelerated restructuring and weaker demand in China.
- BMW retained its automotive free cash flow target above 2.5 billion euros.
BMW stock gained 2.70% over the week through Friday, November 6, as investors weighed a sharper earnings reset against the carmaker's restructuring plans. On Tuesday, November 3, BMW cut its 2026 automotive EBIT margin outlook for the second time in five months, according to Reuters.
The company now expects the automotive margin to range from minus 0.5% to plus 0.5%, down from its previous range of 1% to 3%. BMW attributed the change to expanded portfolio and structural measures, including faster implementation of its organizational realignment and additional workforce reductions.
Restructuring drives the earnings reset
BMW also expects automotive deliveries to decline moderately in 2026, with weaker Chinese demand adding pressure to established premium manufacturers. Reuters reported that the company is planning around 8,000 job cuts in Germany as part of the broader restructuring effort.
The outlook still includes automotive free cash flow above 2.5 billion euros. That target gives investors a counterpoint to the near-break-even reported margin forecast, although the immediate earnings burden is expected to arrive as restructuring costs are recognized.
BMW stock traded at 59.16 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:48 CET on Saturday, November 7, 0.34 percent below the Xetra close of Friday, November 6. The real-time quote of BMW stock reflects the weekend indication rather than a new Xetra session.
