BIST 100 falls 0.66 percent at midday with US trade data ahead

Haberler reported that the index was 81.72 points below its previous close of 12,443.92 points.
Course of the session
The index opened at 12,437.59 points, a decline of 0.05 percent, before reaching an intraday high of 12,445.50 points and a low of 12,314.32 points. The first-half tally showed 62 declining constituents, 32 gainers and six unchanged stocks, according to Hibya.
Negative index contributions were led by TUPRAS, Aselsan and Astor Enerji. Anadolu Efes, Coca-Cola Icecek and Yapi Kredi Bank provided the strongest positive contributions, although their combined support was smaller than the drag from the leading decliners.
Inflation and market focus
Turkey's annual consumer inflation slowed to 29.73 percent in September from 31.51 percent in August, while monthly consumer prices rose 1.84 percent. The reading was below the 30.3 percent annual forecast cited by Anadolu Agency.
Trading activity also trailed the previous session's pace. Sabah reported first-half turnover of 47.8 billion TRY, while financial leasing and factoring was the weakest sector, down 6.51 percent.
What is still ahead today
The next scheduled external market event is the U.S. trade balance release at 2:30 p.m. TRT on October 6, according to Investing.com. The calendar lists a forecast trade deficit of USD 95.20 billion, compared with USD 88.60 billion previously.
