- Besi reported strong third-quarter growth, supported by demand for hybrid bonding, photonics and data-center applications.
- Management expects fourth-quarter revenue to remain broadly stable and launched a new share buyback program.
Besi stock ended the week higher after Applied Materials announced on Monday, October 26, that it plans to raise its holding in BE Semiconductor Industries to approximately 20 percent. The US chip-equipment group said the purchase is intended to deepen a long-term partnership focused on advanced packaging and AI-related semiconductor scaling. Strong quarter raises expectations
The strategic investment followed Besi's third-quarter results, released on Thursday, October 22. Net income increased 323.7 percent year over year to 107.2 million euros, according to the company's earnings call materials reported by Yahoo Finance.
Management expects fourth-quarter revenue to be broadly flat, within plus or minus 5 percent of the third-quarter level. Gross margin is expected at 63 to 65 percent. Besi also announced a new 100 million euro share buyback program scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 27, and run through October 2027.
Strategic tie-up remains the catalyst
The cooperation between Besi and Applied Materials extends beyond hybrid bonding to next-generation interconnect architectures, three-dimensional chip scaling and logic and memory integration. For investors, the expanded relationship increases the strategic relevance of Besi's packaging technology, while the pending regulatory clearance remains a near-term condition for completion.
