- Organic group sales fell in the third quarter, while Beiersdorf kept its full-year targets unchanged.
- Derma and La Prairie growth partly offset continued pressure on NIVEA and weaker tesa sales.
- Investors are watching whether the NIVEA recovery and cost measures can restore sustainable growth.
Beiersdorf's third-quarter 2026 update showed a widening split between its brands: NIVEA and tesa weakened, while Derma and La Prairie continued to grow. According to Börse Express, the company published the figures on October 27, 2026 and left its annual targets unchanged.
Organic group sales declined 1.3 percent in the quarter to 2.362 billion euros. The result reflected a 4.9 percent organic decline at NIVEA, although the contraction was less severe than the 6.7 percent decline in the previous quarter. Excluding the Russia business, the NIVEA decline was 3.2 percent.
NIVEA Remains The Main Test
Beiersdorf is responding with a higher advertising budget for the second half of 2026, lower-priced NIVEA products and an 18-month innovation and advertising program. The Face+ line introduced in Europe in September is intended to attract new skincare customers. These steps may support the turnaround, but the latest quarter did not yet establish a broad recovery in the core brand.
Derma, which includes Eucerin and Aquaphor, posted organic growth of 10.6 percent. La Prairie grew 8.5 percent and Health Care advanced 5.7 percent, giving the consumer business important offsets. Tesa moved in the opposite direction, with organic sales down 4.3 percent to 422 million euros as semiconductor shortages weighed on its electronics business.
Targets Hold While Risks Persist
Beiersdorf continues to expect a low-single-digit organic sales decline for 2026. Its adjusted EBIT margin target remains at least 11.8 percent, compared with 14 percent in the previous year. Management also expects consumer-business sales to remain under pressure in the final quarter, leaving the margin outlook vulnerable into next year.
Analyst views remain divided. Bernstein maintained an Outperform rating and a 95-euro target, while RBC kept an Underperform rating and a 67-euro target. The disagreement reflects the same central question for investors: whether growth in Derma and premium brands can eventually outweigh the weakness of NIVEA and tesa.
