Bayer reported stronger third-quarter operating performance on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and raised several full-year targets after Pharmaceuticals delivered the main earnings contribution. In its third-quarter release, the company said group sales reached 10.053 billion euros, up 4.1 percent on a reported basis and 1.9 percent after currency and portfolio adjustments.

EBITDA before special items rose 6.9 percent to 1.615 billion euros. Bayer said the improvement included a positive currency effect, while core earnings per share fell to 0.31 euros from 0.49 euros a year earlier. Net income was negative at 672 million euros, including impairment losses at Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Health. Free cash flow was negative at 293 million euros, partly because of settlement payments tied to legal proceedings.

Pharmaceuticals leads the recovery

Pharmaceuticals provided the clearest operational momentum. Division sales increased 8.0 percent to 4.680 billion euros, or 6.4 percent after currency and portfolio adjustments. Nubeqa and Kerendia remained the main growth drivers, with adjusted sales gains of 58.3 percent and 64.9 percent, respectively. Pharmaceuticals EBITDA before special items advanced 23.6 percent to 1.292 billion euros, lifting the division margin to 27.6 percent.

The performance helped Bayer raise its full-year pharmaceutical EBITDA margin outlook to 25 to 27 percent, compared with 23 to 25 percent previously. The company also lifted its currency-adjusted group EBITDA forecast to 9.8 to 10.3 billion euros from 9.6 to 10.1 billion euros. Free cash flow guidance improved by 1.0 billion euros to a range of negative 1.5 to negative 0.5 billion euros, while expected year-end net financial debt was lowered to 28.0 to 29.0 billion euros.

Other divisions remained mixed. Crop Science sales fell 2.4 percent after currency and portfolio adjustments in the seasonally small quarter, while EBITDA before special items dropped 41.3 percent to 101 million euros. Consumer Health sales were broadly stable on the same adjusted basis, but EBITDA declined 4.4 percent to 347 million euros.

Shares remain tied to execution risks

The real-time quote of Bayer stock was 54.61 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:12 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026, 2.86 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, November 5. The company’s upgraded targets improve the earnings profile, but negative cash flow and litigation payments remain material considerations for investors.

Bayer also pointed to patent-related declines for Xarelto and Eylea, even as the pace of those declines moderated. Management described the pharmaceuticals pipeline and the balance-sheet improvement as priorities, leaving execution in launches, cost control and legal containment central to the investment case.
