Babcock France has secured a new eight-year contract with the French Armed Forces Commissariat Service to support operational training for French combat units, the company said on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The announcement expands Babcock's role in operational readiness and combat training support.

Babcock International said it will work with SDTS and Top Aces France to provide realistic adversary, or Red Air, training for units of the French Air and Space Force, Navy and Army. Babcock will maintain and operate upgraded L-39 aircraft from its Dijon-Bourgogne base, while its partners will operate A-4N Skyhawk Advanced Aggressor Fighter and Alpha Jet aircraft.

Training activity adds operational reach

The aircraft will train alongside French Rafale and Mirage 2000 fleets in French airspace. The programme is designed to cover air-combat manoeuvres and Joint Terminal Attack Controller training, supported by ROVER technology for real-time video exchange between pilots and ground controllers.

Missions from military bases and civilian airports across France could deliver up to 400 training sorties and more than 1,000 flying hours annually. For investors, the contract adds a new operational training activity to Babcock France's existing defence portfolio, although the announcement did not disclose the contract's financial value.

The real-time quote of Babcock stock showed the shares trading at 12.58 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:37 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
