- AXA reported higher premiums across property and casualty as well as life and health in the first nine months.
- Personal lines growth offset a pullback at AXA XL in softer commercial and reinsurance markets.
- Management expects underlying earnings of 8.6 billion euros for 2026 and targets the upper end of its earnings growth range.
AXA reported stronger business activity for the first nine months of 2026 and kept its full-year targets unchanged. The insurer's 9M26 activity indicators, released on Thursday, October 29, showed gross written premiums and other revenues up 5 percent to 93.0 billion euros on a comparable basis.
Property and casualty premiums increased 3 percent to 48.1 billion euros, while life and health premiums rose 7 percent to 44.8 billion euros. Personal lines were a key growth driver, with premiums up 7 percent to 17.2 billion euros. AXA said the retail business and commercial operations outside AXA XL grew together by 6 percent, supported by both pricing and volumes.
Growth remains uneven across businesses
The commercial insurance picture was more mixed. Commercial premiums increased 1 percent to 28.7 billion euros, but AXA XL Insurance declined 1 percent. AXA XL Reinsurance fell 9 percent to 2.2 billion euros as the group maintained underwriting discipline in softer markets.
Life and health delivered 6.0 billion euros in net flows, while new business contractual service margin increased 1 percent. Natural catastrophe losses were above the prorated annual budget, mainly because of severe convective storms in France, Switzerland and Italy.
AXA stock traded at 42.47 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:09 CET on Monday, October 26, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of AXA stock.
Outlook stays intact despite pressure
AXA reaffirmed its expectation of underlying earnings of 8.6 billion euros for 2026. It expects underlying earnings per share growth at the upper end of its 6 to 8 percent target range and underlying return on equity at the upper end of its 14 to 16 percent range.
The Solvency II ratio stood at 213 percent on September 30, down from 218 percent on June 30. AXA said operating returns were more than offset by dividend accruals, share buybacks and unfavorable market movements.
