Fiber growth supports the outlook
In its third-quarter earnings release, AT&T reported revenue of 32.3 billion US dollars, up 5.3 percent from a year earlier. Adjusted earnings per share reached 0.65 US dollars, compared with 0.54 US dollars in the prior-year quarter.
Advanced Connectivity service revenue rose 6.1 percent. Internet net additions reached a record 769,000, including 442,000 fiber connections and 327,000 fixed-wireless connections. AT&T also added 379,000 postpaid phone customers, while postpaid phone churn was 0.92 percent.
The company said 42.8 percent of households with its advanced home internet services also chose AT&T wireless. It added approximately 350,000 converged customer relationships during the quarter, highlighting the strategic importance of bundling broadband and mobile services.
Higher earnings, lower planned investment
AT&T now expects 2026 adjusted earnings per share in the 2.40 US dollar range, compared with its previous outlook of 2.25 to 2.35 US dollars. The company attributed the change primarily to lower depreciation related to the planned sale of its Mexico wireless business.
Management expects capital investment of 23 billion to 24 billion US dollars in 2026 and 22 billion to 23 billion US dollars annually in 2027 and 2028. At the same time, AT&T remains on track to reach more than 40 million fiber locations by the end of 2026 and more than 60 million by the end of 2030.
