- AstraZeneca increased nine-month revenue by 7 percent at constant exchange rates and Core EPS by 14 percent.
- Oncology and Rare Disease growth offset pressure from Farxiga and Brilinta exclusivity losses and procurement effects in China.
- Management cited 12 positive Phase III readouts and more than 20 billion dollars of potential peak annual revenue from 2027 readouts.
AstraZeneca reported strong commercial momentum for the first nine months of 2026 on October 30, with growth across oncology, respiratory and immunology, and rare disease. In its 9M and Q3 2026 results announcement, the pharmaceutical group said total revenue rose 7 percent at constant exchange rates to 46.9 billion dollars for the nine months ended September 30.
Core earnings per share increased 14 percent at constant exchange rates to 8.00 dollars. Reported earnings per share reached 5.62 dollars, up 10 percent on an actual exchange-rate basis and 11 percent at constant exchange rates. In the third quarter, total revenue rose 7 percent at both measures to 16.209 billion dollars, while Core EPS increased 17 percent on an actual basis and 19 percent at constant exchange rates to 2.79 dollars.
Oncology leads portfolio expansion
Oncology remained the largest therapy area, generating 21.9 billion dollars in nine-month revenue and growing 16 percent at constant exchange rates. Rare Disease revenue increased 11 percent to 7.5 billion dollars. BioPharmaceuticals revenue declined 5 percent to 16.7 billion dollars, as growth in respiratory and immunology was more than offset by pressure in cardiovascular, renal and metabolism and infectious disease.
AstraZeneca said product sales increased 5 percent at constant exchange rates to 43.962 billion dollars during the first nine months. Alliance revenue grew 32 percent at constant exchange rates to 2.806 billion dollars, while third-quarter alliance revenue increased 36 percent to 1.107 billion dollars. The figures show how partnered medicines are adding to the group portfolio while established products face loss-of-exclusivity effects.
2026 outlook remains unchanged
Management reconfirmed its full-year 2026 guidance. At constant exchange rates, total revenue is expected to rise by a mid-to-high single-digit percentage, while Core EPS is expected to increase by a low double-digit percentage. The company expects a Core tax rate of 18 to 22 percent.
Chief Executive Pascal Soriot said AstraZeneca had secured approvals for four new medicines and recorded 12 positive Phase III programme readouts during the year to date. The company said its upcoming 2027 readouts have potential peak annual revenue of more than 20 billion dollars, giving pipeline execution a central role in the longer-term investment case.
