argenx said on October 19, 2026, that results from its Phase 3 ALKIVIA study in autoimmune myositis will be presented at the American College of Rheumatology Convergence 2026. The late-breaking oral presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, in Orlando, Florida.
The company reported that ALKIVIA met its primary endpoint in the combined population of patients with immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy and dermatomyositis. The study evaluates VYVGART Hytrulo, a subcutaneous formulation of efgartigimod, in diseases driven in part by pathogenic IgG autoantibodies.
Primary Endpoint Met At Week 52
At Week 52, the mean Total Improvement Score was 47.95 for patients receiving efgartigimod and 32.56 for patients receiving placebo. The resulting difference was 15.4 points, with a p-value of 0.0011. The Total Improvement Score is a composite measure of clinical improvement that includes muscle strength and functional assessments.
argenx said improvements in disease activity appeared as early as Week 4 and continued through the 52-week treatment period, including while patients followed a protocol-mandated steroid taper. A larger proportion of patients in both disease subtypes reached a Total Improvement Score of at least 40 with efgartigimod, and the median time to that threshold was shorter.
The global, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2/3 study enrolled 265 patients with active disease receiving background treatment. In the Phase 3 portion, 175 patients received treatment. The company said efgartigimod was well tolerated and that its safety profile was consistent with earlier studies and its established profile.
Next Milestone Comes In November
The findings will be presented as session LB24 under the title "Efgartigimod PH20 SC in Adults With Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathy: Results From the Phase 3, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled ALKIVIA Trial." Dr. Rohit Aggarwal is scheduled to present the results from 9:15 to 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time on November 11.
argenx Chief Medical Officer Luc Truyen said the study provides Phase 3 evidence for targeting the neonatal Fc receptor with efgartigimod in autoimmune myositis. The company aims to use the findings to advance treatment options in a field where it says patients have limited targeted therapies.
