- The Aon Client Treaty will cover a larger share of eligible placements from January 1, 2027.
- QBE leads the facility, with support from Lloyd's syndicates and a 1.5 percent client dividend where permitted.
- The expansion strengthens Aon's risk-capital offering while increasing the importance of execution and conflicts management.
Aon renewed its Aon Client Treaty facility on November 5, 2026, expanding the share of eligible placements that can receive pre-arranged co-insurance from January 1, 2027. Insurance Journal reported that the facility will cover 35 percent of eligible business, up from 28.5 percent in 2026.
More Capacity For Complex Risks
The facility applies to eligible business placed through Aon's Global Broking Centre and to facultative reinsurance placed by Aon Reinsurance Solutions. QBE leads the arrangement, while Lloyd's syndicates provide additional backing. Clients access the capacity on the same terms and pricing as the lead placement, subject to eligibility and client agreement.
The 1.5 percent ACT Client Dividend remains in place and can apply to the larger share where local law and regulation allow. Aon said the expansion is particularly relevant to facultative reinsurance, which the facility has supported since late 2025. The arrangement has placed more than 5 billion US dollars in gross written premium since its launch in 2016.
Strategic And Execution Implications
The announcement extends Aon's strategy of combining broking distribution with access to risk capital. A larger committed share may help clients place complex or large individual risks with more certainty, while giving Aon another capability to connect insurers, reinsurers and corporate buyers.
The structure also places emphasis on governance. Aon said placements will continue to follow its conflicts-of-interest framework. For investors, the commercial opportunity therefore comes with execution requirements: the facility must attract eligible business, maintain partner support and deliver client value without weakening confidence in the placement process.
