América Móvil reported stronger third-quarter operating results on October 20, although the company missed analysts' forecasts, according to Reuters. Quarterly revenue rose 7.6 percent year over year to MXN 250.63 billion, while net profit increased 7 percent to MXN 24.28 billion.

Mobile service revenue grew 6.3 percent from the year-earlier quarter. The group added 3.1 million net postpaid subscribers, led by Brazil, while it recorded five million net prepaid disconnections, mainly in Mexico and Colombia. The figures show stronger demand in higher-value customer segments alongside deliberate or market-related reductions in parts of the prepaid base.

Postpaid growth offsets prepaid losses

Brazil was the main source of postpaid momentum in the quarter. America Movil also completed the acquisition of Brazilian broadband provider Desktop in early October, adding a new element to the group's fixed-line expansion in the region.

The quarterly performance came as Televisa advanced its acquisition of AT&T's Mexico unit. That transaction could reshape Mexico's telecommunications market and create a larger rival for America Movil, increasing the competitive focus on mobile, broadband and bundled services.

Cash generation supports balance sheet

Management's third-quarter update also highlighted the role of cash generation in funding investment and reducing leverage. Cash flow covered MXN 76 billion of capital expenditure in the first nine months, while net debt in cash-flow terms declined by MXN 34 billion. Free cash flow increased 41 percent from the previous year, and the company returned MXN 27 billion through dividends and share buybacks.

Net debt excluding leases stood at MXN 400 billion at the end of the quarter, equivalent to 1.21 times EBITDA after leases, down from 1.50 times at the end of 2025. Management said its leverage target for 2026 through 2028 remains between 1.2 and 1.5 times, leaving capital allocation between shareholder returns, acquisitions and balance-sheet discipline as a central investor issue.

The real-time quote of America Movil stock stood at 22.30 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:15 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026.
