América Móvil reported stronger third-quarter operating results on October 21, with revenue rising 7.6 percent year over year to MXN 251 billion. MarketBeat's report on the earnings call said EBITDA reached a 40.8 percent margin, up 0.5 percentage points from the prior-year quarter, while net profit increased 7 percent to MXN 24 billion.
The revenue mix remained important for investors. The telecom group added 3.1 million postpaid subscribers and 390,000 fixed-broadband customers during the quarter. Those gains offset a 5 million decline in prepaid subscribers, which management linked largely to customer-base cleanups in Mexico and Colombia. Year over year, postpaid mobile accesses increased 8.9 percent and fixed-broadband accesses rose 5.6 percent.
Cash generation supports financial discipline
Cash flow provided the main balance-sheet support. Capital expenditure totaled MXN 76 billion in the first nine months and was fully funded by cash flow, according to MarketBeat's account of the earnings call. América Móvil reduced net debt in cash-flow terms by MXN 34 billion and returned MXN 27 billion to shareholders through buybacks and dividends.
Free cash flow was 41 percent higher than in 2025. Net debt excluding leases stood at MXN 400 billion at the end of the quarter, equivalent to 1.21 times EBITDA after leases, compared with 1.50 times at the end of 2025. Management reiterated a target leverage range of 1.2 to 1.5 times, leaving room for distributions and selected acquisitions while keeping balance-sheet discipline in focus.
Network investment remains central
Management said it expects capital expenditure to remain near USD 7 billion next year, with a potential variation of 5 percent above or below that level. The company is also integrating Brazilian fiber provider Desktop, which has about 4.8 million homes passed, and expects commercial and operating synergies from broader fiber coverage.
Near-term capital demands include the planned consolidation of VTR, a remaining dividend payment of about MXN 17 billion, and potential acquisitions in Peru and Colombia subject to regulatory and transaction developments. The company also said it is applying artificial-intelligence tools to customer service, call centers and network maintenance to improve service and lower costs.
For investors, the quarter combined resilient service demand with stronger cash conversion. The prepaid cleanup creates a visible customer-count drag, but higher-value postpaid plans, broadband growth and lower leverage provide counterweights. The next focus will be whether these trends continue through the fourth-quarter holiday period and how management balances network spending, shareholder returns and acquisitions.
The broader U.S. market backdrop is tracked through the S&P 500.
