AIXTRON SE reported a sharp increase in third-quarter orders on October 29 as demand for equipment used in AI data-center communications accelerated. Its stock traded at 29.69 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:01 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026, 2.63 percent above the Xetra close of Thursday, November 5.

The company said in its October 29 release that order intake reached 274.9 million euros in the third quarter, up 122 percent from 124.0 million euros a year earlier. Optoelectronics represented about 68 percent of equipment orders, while power electronics accounted for 24 percent.

Orders point toward stronger growth

Quarterly revenue rose 54 percent year over year to 183.6 million euros, within the company's guidance range of 180 million euros plus or minus 20 million euros. Gross profit increased 88 percent to 87.3 million euros, lifting the gross margin to 48 percent from 39 percent in the prior-year quarter.

Operating profit reached 56.7 million euros, compared with 15.4 million euros a year earlier. The EBIT margin improved to 31 percent from 13 percent. AIXTRON attributed the stronger result to higher revenue, product and regional mix, and operating leverage. The first nine months also included mid-single-digit million-euro one-off expenses linked to a personnel reduction in operations.

The equipment backlog stood at 549.4 million euros at September 30, compared with 286.5 million euros a year earlier. The company said the backlog provides revenue visibility well into 2027. CEO Felix Grawert said demand for InP-based optical components remained especially strong and that improving utilization and new capacity activity pointed to a recovery in GaN and SiC power electronics.

2026 targets remain unchanged

AIXTRON confirmed its full-year 2026 guidance for revenue of 560 million euros plus or minus 30 million euros. The company continues to expect a gross margin of about 42 percent and an EBIT margin between 17 percent and 20 percent. Management expects production output to rise further by year-end and said current order intake could be maintained or increased in coming quarters.

For investors, the results sharpen the contrast between the company's growth businesses and weaker areas. AI-related optical connectivity is driving the current order cycle, while power-electronics demand is improving. The company has not yet issued formal 2027 financial guidance; it plans to provide that outlook with its full-year 2026 results on March 4, 2027.
