Aixtron (ISIN DE000A0WMPJ6) fell 1.98 percent to EUR 38.620 on Xetra at 11:15 a.m. CEST on October 7, 2026. The move comes as investors assess a sharp split between weaker Q2 revenue and much stronger orders ahead of the October 29 release of the companys nine-month report.
Orders surge while revenue contracts
In Q2 2026, revenue fell 16 percent year over year to EUR 115.1 million, while operating profit declined 38 percent to EUR 14.7 million and the EBIT margin slipped from 17 percent to 13 percent, according to onemarkets Blog in its October 5, 2026 report.
The order picture was materially stronger. Q2 orders rose 81 percent to EUR 214.5 million, first-half orders increased 54 percent to EUR 386 million, and the equipment backlog reached EUR 456.9 million, up 61 percent from the prior year, the same report stated.
Guidance depends on second-half delivery
Aixtron continues to target 2026 revenue of EUR 560 million, with a EUR 30 million range, and an operating EBIT margin of 17 percent to 20 percent, according to the companys investor-relations calendar and published financial materials. First-half revenue of EUR 174.5 million means the second half must contribute EUR 385.5 million to reach the midpoint of that target.
The numbers point to execution as the central issue. The order backlog provides demand visibility, but the 13 percent Q2 EBIT margin was below the full-year target range, leaving production ramp-up and delivery timing as the key bridge between orders and profit.
Analysts see upside and execution risk
dpa AFX reported on October 1, 2026, that JPMorgan cut its Aixtron price target from EUR 60 to EUR 54 while retaining an Overweight rating. The bank cited revenue and earnings expectations above consensus, strong optoelectronics demand and a possible recovery in gallium nitride chips, while also calling for faster order growth.
A four-house consensus lists one Buy, three Holds and no Sells, with a 12-month target of EUR 42.50, according to Börse Express in its October 4, 2026 article. That target is EUR 3.880 above the October 7 Xetra price, while the range of ratings shows that delivery risk remains part of the valuation debate.
Q3 report sets the next checkpoint
Aixtron is scheduled to publish its Q3 2026 results on October 29, 2026, according to AIXTRON. The report will show whether the EUR 386 million first-half order intake is translating into the revenue and margin recovery required by the 2026 targets.
Aixtron stock was last at EUR 38.620 on Xetra on October 7, 2026, with a 52-week range of EUR 12.81 to EUR 60.22. The price was 35.9 percent below the 52-week high.
