- AIA Group's nine-month value of new business rose despite a weaker third quarter.
- September growth and the company's fourth-quarter outlook point to improving comparisons.
- A regional leadership change now covers India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand.
AIA Group's third-quarter results showed a weaker headline figure but a stronger finish to the period. The insurer said on October 30 that value of new business rose for the first nine months of 2026, while September growth accelerated sharply.
AIA stock traded at 8.74 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:31 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Since the relevant November 3 report, the quote has moved from 8.63 euros to 8.74 euros, an increase of 1.27 percent based on the two Lang & Schwarz quotes.
September Rebound Changes The Picture
According to the AIA Group press release, value of new business reached 4,627 million US dollars in the first nine months, up 5 percent on a constant-exchange-rate basis. Third-quarter value fell 5 percent to 1,415 million US dollars as Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland faced exceptionally high prior-year comparisons.
The trend improved during the quarter. September value of new business increased by more than 25 percent year over year, while the margin rose 5.3 percentage points to 63.5 percent. Other reportable markets grew 18 percent in the third quarter, partly offsetting declines in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
Leadership Adds An Execution Test
Edward Moncreiffe became regional chief executive on November 2, responsible for India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. He also joined AIA's Group Executive Committee. The appointment adds an execution focus around distribution, product mix and growth across the four markets, but did not come with a new earnings or revenue forecast.
AIA expects strong fourth-quarter momentum as comparison effects normalize. The company also reiterated that it expects to exceed its 9 to 11 percent operating profit after tax per share compound annual growth target for 2023 through 2026.
