- Agnico Eagle delivered strong third-quarter operating performance despite lower gold production than a year earlier.
- Management expects 2026 production near the lower end of guidance and costs near the upper end.
- The company is advancing major growth projects while continuing dividends and share repurchases.
Agnico Eagle Mines reported its third-quarter 2026 results on Wednesday, October 28, with free cash flow of USD 852 million and gold production of 814,012 ounces. The company kept its full-year outlook intact, although production is expected near the lower end of the range and costs near the upper end.
According to the Agnico Eagle, realized gold prices reached USD 4,264 per ounce during the quarter. Adjusted net income was USD 1.324 billion, or USD 2.62 per share, while adjusted EBITDA came to USD 2.466 billion. Net income under IFRS was USD 1.353 billion, or USD 2.67 per share.
Production remains on lower guidance track
Quarterly gold production was below the prior-year level of 866,936 ounces. The company attributed the change mainly to lower production at Canadian Malartic and Meadowbank, partly offset by higher output at Detour Lake and Fosterville. Total cash costs rose to USD 1,133 per ounce from USD 952 a year earlier, while all-in sustaining costs increased to USD 1,648 per ounce from USD 1,331.
Agnico Eagle continues to guide for 3.3 million to 3.5 million ounces of gold in 2026, with production expected near the bottom of that range. Total cash costs are expected near the upper end of the USD 1,020 to USD 1,120 range, and all-in sustaining costs near the upper end of the USD 1,400 to USD 1,550 range. The company cited the adjusted Barnat mine plan and input-cost pressure, particularly from diesel.
Balance sheet supports project pipeline
Cash and cash equivalents rose to USD 3.613 billion at September 30, while net cash reached USD 3.416 billion. Total debt stood at USD 197 million. The company also increased its unsecured revolving credit facility to USD 3 billion, with maturity extended to October 2031.
Capital allocation remained active. Agnico Eagle returned USD 478 million to shareholders during the quarter through dividends and share repurchases, including a quarterly dividend of USD 0.45 per share. At current spot gold prices and subject to operational needs, management expects shareholder returns to exceed 50% of 2026 free cash flow.
Agnico Eagle stock traded at 149.33 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:35 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. The quote provides the current European trading reference for investors following the company after its results.
For investors, the main tension is clear: elevated gold prices are supporting earnings and cash generation, while lower production and higher operating costs are limiting the margin benefit. The company is using its balance-sheet strength to advance Odyssey, Detour Lake underground, Upper Beaver and Hope Bay.
Management said the growth program is aimed at increasing annual gold production by 20% to 30% over the next decade, with a potential production step-up from 2030 and output above 4 million ounces possible in the early 2030s. Hope Bay construction remains on schedule for first gold in 2030, while Odyssey shaft-hoisted production is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
