Record quarter broadens AI exposure
Advantest presented its fiscal 2026 second-quarter results on October 28. According to Investing.com, quarterly sales reached 477.7 billion yen, up 81.7 percent from a year earlier and 30.0 percent from the previous quarter. Operating income rose to 266.8 billion yen, while net income reached 193.3 billion yen.
SoC Test Systems generated 353.3 billion yen in quarterly sales, supported by testing demand for GPUs, custom application-specific chips and high-performance CPUs. Advantest also expects the semiconductor tester market to remain supply-constrained through calendar 2027, although component costs and the pace of AI investment remain key risks.
Higher forecast supports investor visibility
Advantest raised its fiscal 2026 sales forecast to 1.863 trillion yen from 1.714 trillion yen and its operating-income forecast to 967.0 billion yen from 846.0 billion yen. The projected operating margin increased to 51.9 percent from 49.4 percent, with second-half margin expected to exceed 50 percent.
The company also lifted its net-income forecast to 741.5 billion yen from 660.0 billion yen. The stronger outlook improves earnings visibility, but it raises the importance of sustained AI-related capital spending and successful capacity expansion.
Shareholder returns move higher
Advantest approved an interim dividend of 49 yen per share for fiscal 2026, compared with 29 yen a year earlier. The company also authorized a repurchase of up to 11 million shares for a maximum of 280 billion yen; the program runs from October 29, 2026, through March 24, 2027. Advantest's dividend announcement sets the interim payment date for December 1, 2026.
