- Advantest reported record second-quarter sales and operating income on October 28.

- The company is accelerating SoC tester capacity expansion and plans an investor-relations fireside chat for November 12.
Advantest reported record fiscal second-quarter results on October 28 and raised its fiscal 2026 outlook as demand for semiconductor testing equipment broadened across artificial-intelligence applications. The company's investor-relations page lists the FY2026 second-quarter consolidated results and related presentation materials.
Record quarter lifts full-year targets
Second-quarter sales reached 477.7 billion Japanese yen, an increase of 81.7 percent from a year earlier and 30.0 percent from the previous quarter. Operating income rose to 266.8 billion Japanese yen, producing an operating margin of 55.9 percent. Net income reached 193.3 billion Japanese yen.
The figures are significant for investors because the quarterly performance raised the base for the remainder of the fiscal year. Advantest now expects fiscal 2026 sales of 1,863.0 billion Japanese yen, compared with a previous forecast of 1,714.0 billion Japanese yen. The operating-income forecast increased to 967.0 billion Japanese yen from 846.0 billion Japanese yen, while the projected operating margin rose to 51.9 percent from 49.4 percent.
Advantest's revised outlook reflects continued investment in high-performance semiconductors used for artificial intelligence workloads. Demand is spreading beyond graphics processors to custom application-specific integrated circuits and high-performance central processing units. That broadening gives the company a wider potential customer base, while also increasing the importance of execution in manufacturing and supply chains.
Capacity expansion moves faster
SoC Test Systems generated 353.3 billion Japanese yen in quarterly sales. Computing and communications applications accounted for about 90 percent of segment revenue, according to the reported results. Annual SoC tester production capacity has exceeded 5,000 systems, and Advantest is targeting 10,000 systems ahead of its original schedule.
The company also raised its fiscal 2026 capital-expenditure forecast to 60.0 billion Japanese yen from 50.0 billion Japanese yen. The additional investment is intended to support capacity expansion as customers increase production of AI-related chips. Higher component and logistics costs remain a margin risk, particularly after the stronger profit performance lifted expectations for the second half.
What investors should watch next
Management expects the semiconductor tester market to reach a record level in calendar 2026 as inference AI increases production volumes and chip complexity. The outlook offers strong earnings visibility, but the share-price case remains linked to sustained AI investment, capacity delivery and the company's ability to preserve margins as expansion continues.
