- Six-month sales rose strongly as AI-related semiconductor tester demand supported Advantest's business.
- The company lifted its fiscal 2026 sales, operating income and net income forecasts.
- Advantest increased its interim dividend and authorized a new share repurchase program.
Advantest reported record financial results for the first half of fiscal 2026 on October 28, as demand for semiconductor testers used in artificial intelligence applications continued to strengthen. The results and outlook were published in the company's semi-annual financial report, carried by MarketScreener.
For the six months ended September 30, sales increased 60.5 percent year over year to JPY 845.2 billion. Operating income rose 96.5 percent to JPY 456.8 billion, while net income advanced 116.8 percent to JPY 368.1 billion. Advantest attributed the performance to higher production volumes for AI-related high-performance semiconductors, greater device complexity and active customer investment in testing equipment.
Higher forecast reflects AI demand
Advantest lifted its fiscal-year forecast through March 31, 2027. Sales are now expected to reach JPY 1,863.0 billion, compared with JPY 1,714.0 billion in the July projection. The operating income forecast rose to JPY 967.0 billion from JPY 846.0 billion, while net income is projected at JPY 741.5 billion, up from JPY 660.0 billion.
The company expects the semiconductor market to grow strongly in calendar 2026, supported by AI applications. It also sees the semiconductor tester market reaching a new record, particularly as inference AI increases production volumes and the complexity of related chips. Advantest plans to accelerate production-capacity expansion and strengthen supply-chain resilience. It said the direct earnings impact of the Middle East situation was expected to remain limited, although logistics costs could rise.
Shareholder returns move higher
Advantest raised its interim dividend for fiscal 2026 to JPY 49 per share, compared with JPY 29 a year earlier. The company also authorized a share repurchase of up to 11 million shares for a maximum JPY 280 billion. The program runs from October 29, 2026, through March 24, 2027, subject to the stated limits.
