- Acciona Energia reported higher operating profit and parent-company earnings for 2025 despite lower net revenue.
- Asset disposals reduced installed capacity and contributed materially to reported earnings.
- The company entered 2026 with a smaller asset base and a portfolio shaped by completed transactions.
Acciona Energia reported a mixed 2025 performance in its consolidated annual accounts prepared on February 26, 2026. Net revenue declined, while operating profit and profit attributable to the parent company increased, according to the company's 2025 consolidated annual accounts and the accompanying KPMG auditor's report.
Net revenue fell to 2.925 billion euros from 3.048 billion euros in 2024, a decline of 4.0 percent. Other revenue rose to 1.186 billion euros from 855 million euros, reflecting the effect of portfolio transactions and other disposals.
Asset sales lift reported earnings
Operating profit increased to 952 million euros from 699 million euros, while profit attributable to the parent company rose to 655 million euros from 357 million euros. Basic and diluted earnings per share reached 2.00 euros, compared with 1.10 euros a year earlier.
The earnings increase was closely linked to asset rotation. Acciona Energia completed the sale of its hydroelectric business to Endesa in February 2025 for 964 million euros and recognised a gain of 491 million euros. In December, it sold a 440-megawatt Spanish wind portfolio for 531 million euros and recorded a gain of 203 million euros. The company also completed the sale of the 136-megawatt San Juan de Marcona wind farm in Peru for 218 million euros.
These transactions changed the group's earnings mix and reduced its operating asset base. Installed power stood at 12,882 megawatts at December 31, 2025, down from 13,630 megawatts one year earlier. Property, plant and equipment declined to 10.323 billion euros from 11.341 billion euros, while total assets fell to 14.718 billion euros from 16.244 billion euros.
Cash flow reflects portfolio rotation
Cash flows from operations amounted to 383 million euros, compared with 681 million euros in 2024. Investing cash flow was positive at 412 million euros, after a negative 1.451 billion euros in the prior year, supported by proceeds from disposals. Cash and cash equivalents ended the year at 426 million euros, compared with 495 million euros at the end of 2024.
Total equity stood at 6.183 billion euros, slightly below 6.237 billion euros a year earlier. The accounts state that the group prepared its consolidated financial statements under IFRS as adopted by the European Union and that the 2025 figures include comparable 2024 amounts.
Stock remains linked to strategic options
