The origin of the company goes back to 1910 when hematologist, Dr. Grifols Roig, founds the Instituto Central de Análisis Clínicos in Barcelona.
Today, Grifols includes 30 companies from around the world in the health sector which are divided into two main activities: Industrial Area: (includes all the companies dedicated to developing, researching and manufacturing products and services) and Commercial Area (structured under Grifols International and is dedicated to marketing, distribution and providing customer service around the world from companies located in different regions of the world)
Grifols has also three divisions:
Bioscience Division (specializes in the research, development, production and commercialization of high quality plasma derivates); Diagnostic Division (focuses on researching, developing, manufacturing and marketing diagnostics products for laboratory analysis, including products for Hospital Blood Banks and Transfusion Centers) and Hospital Division (provides a wide range of non-biological products used in hospital pharmacies, surgery, nutritional support, fluid therapy and for other therapeutic uses).
The shares representing the capital of Grifols, S.A. are listed in the Stock Exchanges of Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Bilbao and in the Continuous Market or S.I.B.E.
