Sparrho Appoints Basil Moftah, MBA, as Chairman of the Board of Directors
Since leaving Thomson Reuters in 2015, Basil has championed new ventures, such as the digital patent storage platform PatSnap, and the intelligent product builder TARA.AI. He has also been an investor in Sparrho since 2016, and so is perfectly placed to spur on the rapid expansion of the company, utilising his intimate knowledge of cutting-edge developments in the scientific and tech sectors.
While at Thomson Reuters, Basil chaired and supported various diversity and inclusion programs, including a role as Corporate Sponsor of Thomson Reuters Leadership Program for Women – a promising sign in an industry vastly underrepresented by women. He has also worked across all emerging markets, and this international outlook will set Sparrho in good stead to expand their operations throughout Asia.
The appointment of Basil comes as the scientific community faces a crossroads. Sparrho sits at the nucleus of the intersection between science and technology, creating a platform that seeks to further provide accessibility and accountability across industry and geography. Sparrho’s powerful platform, using analytics and AI, reimagines the possibility of a new, improved and democratised scientific ecosystem.
Basil says of his new appointment: “This is an exciting time to join the Sparrho Board. The company plays a crucial and unique role in driving the aggregation, curation, and summarisation of cutting-edge research. I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic team who are the only global players capable of democratising access to science for all.”
CEO of Sparrho, Vivian Chan, says, “We are delighted to have Basil join our close-knit and dedicated team at Sparrho. His vast expertise and continued enthusiasm for our work will be invaluable in carrying us forward as the disruptive company simplifying science for researchers and brands. We’re all excited to see what the future holds!”
