EQS-News: The NHL - finally Home!
?By broadcasting NHL games and as media partner of the National League, MySports remains the undisputed ?Home of Hockey?. Sport creates truly sensational moments and so we are really looking forward to bringing the best of hockey to our customers' front rooms,? says Andr? Krause, CEO of Sunrise UPC. ?Thanks to our excellent program on MySports and the ongoing commitment of Roger Federer, and as the new main partner of Swiss-Ski for the 2022/2023 season and collaborator with the Athletes Network (athletes-network.com), we have significantly strengthened our presence in the sports sector and will continue to bring our customers much more than our competitors do.?
Combination of National League and NHL prime time games
The NHL will start celebrating its premiere on MySports on 9 October. From the very first game - a pre-season matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes (Nino Downrider) and the Nashville Predators (Roman Josi) - the performance of our talented Swiss hockey stars in the US will be on full display. All the live National League action and a special selection of Primetime NHL games will make the perfect combination. Coverage will focus on Saturdays and Sundays - and naturally on games with Swiss players. The NHL doesn't get more Swiss than this, starring the likes of Nino Niederreiter, Roman Josi, Jer?me Moser, Philipp Kurashev, Timo Meier, Pius Suter, Nico Hischier, Kevin Fiala, Dean Kukan, Tim Berni and Jonas Siegenthaler.
The Home of Hockey is welcoming both the most famous league and the most famous new talent in the team of commentators. MySports will screen one game every week with German and French commentary. It will feature new commentator Stefan B?rer, who is an absolute pro in the field and a hockey veteran. B?rer has 28 years' experience at SRF and is renowned for his expertise in ice hockey and tennis. He recently become a board member at Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and will join MySports as a commentator from October. He will celebrate his first appearance on the channel on October 31 when the Arizona Coyotes host the Carolina Hurricanes: ?We are seeing more and more players from Switzerland making it to North America.? And the NHL will now be coming to viewers' living rooms across Switzerland - and I get a frontline view of the action! I am delighted by the opportunity to commentate on these games for MySports.?
Thomas Roost will also celebrate his first appearance as an expert and co-commentator on the german speaking channel. Roost is a scout at NHL Central Scouting Europe and a consultant for hockey players and clubs. With 25 years' experience as a talent scout for the NHL, his knowledge of the league is second to none. ?The world's best players in the world's best league. I cannot imagine anything better than providing background coverage on NHL games, with the aim of giving our viewers some real added value to their experience,? says Roost. In Rossens, St?phane Rochette will take on the role of expert.
NHL season schedule on MySports
MySports will show at least four live NHL games weekly during the regular season. This will generally be during the European prime time slot between 19:00 and 22:00, starting with the pre-season game on October 9 and the season opener on October 16. There will also be selected games from the first rounds of the playoff as well as the complete final series for the coveted Stanley Cup. Over 150 games in total - all live! The channel will also feature: The annual All-Star Game and the regular magazine ?NHL on the fly?. The focus will always be centered on our ?Swiss Boys? in the US.
