According to Poland's announcement, the second stage aims to identify the areas of potential technical and industrial cooperation, the transfer of knowledge, technology, and production, and address the intellectual property rights available as part of the offers from each of the chosen parties.
" Raytheon looks forward to participating in the next technical dialogue phase where we will fully address Polish government, industry, and military requirements," said Dan Crowley, President, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. "We are committed to helping Poland achieve its long-term objectives for this important program, which is vital to the country's national security interests."
Raytheon will partner with Poland on the future technology development roadmap of Patriot and has identified many co-development opportunities for Polish industry to participate spanning integration, command and control, radar enhancements and missile technologies. Raytheon recently signed a Letter of Intent with Poland's Polski Holding Obronny sp.z o.o. (PHO) to explore cooperation and mutually beneficial business opportunities related to Poland's ambitions as well as potential exports to and cooperation in third country markets. Raytheon is also exploring opportunities with several other Polish companies across the country's defense sector, as well as their world renowned research institutions.
Raytheon and PHO are hosting a Partnering Conference to be held March 18-19, 2014 at the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw, Poland. The company's Patriot program is currently supported by more than 2,800 suppliers from 20 different countries. The conference will allow Raytheon to meet with numerous companies and explore joint opportunities in Poland in areas such as design, advanced software/algorithm development, communications, final assembly, component manufacturing, testing, service and support for radar, missiles and command/control systems.
"By partnering with Raytheon, Polish industry will join a strong, global supply chain under long-term agreements, which offers unmatched future exports to the growing list of 12 existing Global Patriot Partner nations and the broad, multi-national operations at Raytheon," said Mike Shaughnessy, Vice President of Supply Chain, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. "Raytheon is committed to delivering significant and sustainable benefits to Poland's defense industry, including workshare, co-production, co-development and technology transfer. There will be further cooperation in design and engineering with Polish industry to support the continuing technology advancements that are planned for the Patriot system in particular."
