MA - The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has selected Mintz Levin litigator Joseph G. Blute to serve on the faculty of its 2010 Trial Academy. The academy, which is open to a select group of attendees, is conducted annually at Stanford Law School and is one of the premier trial training programs nationally.
The IADC is an invitation-only professional association for defense lawyers around the world. Each year the IADC selects 15 leading defense trial lawyers to serve as faculty for an intensive, seven-day instruction in trial defense tactics. Approximately one hundred attendees are admitted to the academy each year. Over three thousand have attended since the academy was established in 1973.
Mr. Blute specializes in commercial and business litigation, products liability defense and insurance coverage matters. He has extensive trial experience in complex civil litigation and over the course of his nearly three decade career has tried cases on behalf of some of the country?s major corporations, including Johnson & Johnson, Ford Motor Co., Westinghouse Electric Corp., Exxon Corp., and Fisher-Price Toys. He recently represented a national engineering design firm in Boston?s ?Big Dig? tunnel ceiling collapse case, widely considered to be one of the most complex tort cases in Massachusetts history.
Mr. Blute received his J.D., with high honors, from George Washington University Law School, where he was an Editor of the Law Review and a member of Order of the Coif. He received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Boston College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He resides in Natick, Massachusetts.
