Mayor Villaraigosa, an advocate for sustainability practices, launched the GREEN LA program in an effort to make Los Angeles one of the ?greenest? big cities in the country. The city has already, four years ahead of schedule, met Kyoto targets for reducing greenhouse gasses. Additionally, the program has taken over 2,000 dirty diesel trucks off the road, met its first target of getting 10% of the city?s energy from renewable sources, and put in place one of the most aggressive green building programs of any major city. The mayor will discuss, amongst other things, the importance of sustainability especially as it pertains to retail real estate.
Other keynote speakers include:
Andrew Winston, Founder, Winston Eco-Strategies
?Green Recovery: Get Lean, Get Smart, and Emerge from the Downturn on Top?
Andrew, a globally recognized speaker, author and green business expert will discuss the importance of environmental strategy during tough economic times. He will demonstrate how ?going green? now can help companies survive in today?s economy, position themselves to thrive when the market rebounds, and emerge the downturn as a leader.
Melissa Bradley Burns, Senior Strategist, Capital Access Program, Green for All
?Retail, Region and Return?
Melissa will outline the various green opportunities available that support financial return while preserving the environment. The session will also provide retailers with strategies to leverage public and private partnerships that stimulate an inclusive green economy on both a regional and national level.
Brad Davis, Former Chief Marketing Officer, SunPower Corporation
?Here Comes the Sun?
Brad, who was named one of the ?Top 50 Marketers in America? by Advertising Age, will present a unique view of our planet through the future of energy production. The session will focus on how business can benefit from deep insight into the mind of the consumer, the potential of the sun as a power resource, and the direction of energy practices in the 21st Century.
