Schmack Biogas AG continues to push ahead internationalisation
Imminent start of construction of Poland's largest biogas plant, rated for
2 megawatts of capacity

Schwandorf, September 24, 2007. Schmack Biogas AG continues its strategic
course of internationalising its business and building technically
sophisticated major plants. In the coming weeks Schmack Biogas will start
construction of Poland's largest biogas plant on behalf of Agrogaz, a
Polish joint venture between Regensburg-based Aufwind Schmack GmbH Neue
Energien and Polish energy provider Polenergia. Rated for 2 megawatts of
capacity, the plant is to be completed by September 2008.

Dr. Karl Reinhard Kolmsee, Schmack Biogas AG's Managing Board member in
charge of sales, said: 'The construction of this technologically
sophisticated plant marks our entry into another European market, thereby
demonstrating the future potential and long-term viability of biogas and
highlighting the continued strong demand on the part of energy providers
and investors.'

The Polish biogas plant will be engineered to tie in with an existing
bioethanol plant which will supply residuals from bioethanol production as
the main feedstock for the biogas production. In turn, the biogas plant
will not only produce electricity but also feed its process heat back to
the bioethanol plant. Kolmsee said: 'This is an ecologically optimised
cycle which makes excellent economic sense at the same time.'
