Over 20 Million Kapi·Bara·San Plush Have Sold in Japan since Brand Debut in 2005
From its 2005 introduction by Banpresto as a ?Kapi·Bara·San? series of adorable oversized plush and photo books throughout Japan, this collection of has evolved into a line of toys and products spanning more than 25 lifestyle categories. As Kapi·Bara·San captured the hearts and imagination of millions, the passion, imagination and demand of its fans resulted in an array of licensed branded products, three dedicated Kapi·Bara·San stores, a Kapi·Bara·San Café which provides an original menu named after Kapi·Bara·San, and a portfolio of branded music and Concert events featuring the cuddly, collectible characters.
Inspired by the capybara, a cousin to the guinea pig that?s recognized as the world?s largest animal of its kind, Banpresto transformed the animal into the cute Kapi·Bara·San character, and introduced the property as plush prizing in over 4000 coin-operated crane machines throughout Japan. In the seven years since, Kapi·Bara·San has become a "Kawaii" phenomenon, a character that everyone knows - particularly teenage girls and women in their 20?s. Today, Kapi·Bara·San has become a multi-million dollar intellectual property, with 26 licensees covering most major licensing categories from electronics and apparel to stationery and furniture.
The appointment will enable Syncretic Media to introduce Kapi·Bara·San to prospective American licensees and retailers at the upcoming Toy Fair 2012 in New York. The property will be featured at the trade show by Hong Kong-headquartered Dream International USA, which Syncretic Media has named as the brand?s plush licensee for United States. Mr. Naruo Uchida, President, Syncretic Media, will be on hand at the Dream International booth (#1265) to discuss marketing plans for the U.S. rollout of the adorable property.
Dream International USA, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, was founded in 1992 as C&H Toy of HK Co Ltd. Today, it is one of the largest and respected toy manufacturers in Asia, producing plush stuffed toys as well as steel and plastic children?s products for some of the world?s most respected kids? brands. The organization has offices throughout the world, including a U.S. location in Buena Park, California.
